THE LION AND THE MOUSE

Image

Once when a Lion was asleep a little Mouse began running up and down upon him; this soon wakened the Lion, who placed his huge paw upon him, and opened his big jaws to swallow him. “Pardon, O King,” cried the little Mouse: “forgive me this time, I shall never forget it: who knows but what I may be able to do you a turn

some of these days?” The Lion was so tickled at the idea of the Mouse being able to help him, that he lifted up his paw and let him go. Some time after the Lion was caught in a trap, and the hunters who desired to carry him alive to the King, tied him to a tree while they went in search of a wagon to carry him on. Just then thelittle Mouse happened to pass by, and seeing the sad plight in which the Lion was, went up to him and soon gnawed away the ropes that bound the King of the Beasts. “Was I not right?” said the little Mouse.

THE DREAMY MILK-MAID

A Milk-maid had been tothe meadowto milk her cows. Now she was returning home with a pail of milk on her head.

She thought, “I will make cream and butter out of this milk. Then selling them, I will buy eggs. and when they hatch, I shall have a goodpoultry farm.”

She further thought, “I shall sell some of my fowls and buy a finedress. Seeing it on my body at the fair, all the boys will admire me.the pail of milk tumbled downBut I will turn them away just tossing my head at them.”

Lost in daydreams, she forgot about the pail on her head. She tossed her head with a jerk and the pail of milk came tumbling down. it was broken and allthe milkgot spilt.

“Dear O dear !” she cried, “I have lost my all.”

MORAL: Don’t count your chickens before they are hatched.

Mexican Interiors with Mexican Colours.

I think we are too careful and too spare with bright colours when we decorate our homes. Have a look at these mexican examples. The mexicans surely go for it and in my opinion it looks fantastic!

Dare to be colourful!

Men in white Jeans.

I wish men would wear white jeans all year long. They look so cool……they just get so dirty very quickly especially if you are traveling on the tube. They don’t stay white very long.

ALEX KANEVSKY

American contemporary classical painter with an impressionistic “motion blurred” of style of oil painting. I hadn’t heard of him before and I really like his style and colours…. I love his paintings! Here are just a few examples of his great collection of paintings. Great artist, I couldn’t find anything about him though (bio).

My interest for mexican artists is growing. Surfing around I found this wonderful Photography by Graciela Iturbide who was born 1942 in Mexico City. Her photographs everyday life, almost entirely in black-and-white. She was inspired by the photography of Josef Koudelka, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sebastiao Salgado and Álvarez Bravo.

I love it

LION AND HIS FEAR

Image

There was a lion who feared nothing except the crowing of cocks. A chill would go down his spine whenever he heard a cock crowing. One day he confessed his fear to the elephant, who was greatly amused. “How can the crowing of a cock hurt you?” he asked the lion. “Think about it!” Just then a mosquito began circling the elephant’s head, frightening him out of his wits. “If it gets into my ear I’m doomed!” he shrieked, flailing at the insect with his trunk. Now it was the lion’s turn to feel amused.

Moral: If we could see our fears as others see them we would realize that most of our fears make no sense!

Scandinavian Bedrooms.

I am a fan of scandinavian Design, style and taste. They are similar to the japanese very minimalistic and I love it. They manage to decorate their houses and apartments very light, bright simple but still cosy. I guess their main or basic colour is white which they combine with one or many different bright colours. Here are some examples of beautiful scandinavian bedrooms.

Photographer Marcela Taboada, Mexican.

I found these pictures of this wonderful mexican female photographer and they touched my heart, I love them. I love them because they are black and white ( I love black and white photos) but most of all because they show the Country I was born in, MEXICO. For me Mexico has two sides: a wonderful, colourful, happy, humorous, genuine, fun and loving side but at the same time a sad, dark, wasted, dangerous, stupid, aggressive and worrying side. These two feelings I had ever since, when I lived there during my childhood and now a days when I go for Holidays and visit friends and family. I feel happy, love the beauty of the country, food and the people so genuine, loving, happy and fun but at the same time I feel sad that I am not a part of it anymore living in Europe for the last 20something years but also what became of  the country I grew up, I feel very insecure and in constant danger.

These pictures of Marcela Taboada show the Mexico I love, the genuine, loving, humorous, fun and beautiful country and people. Please have a look at them and fall in love with Mexico.
